In 2023, Suzanne Fiske retired from the Tara Civic Association Board. We would briefly like to share what Suzanne has meant to our subdivision.
Suzanne and Tom Fiske moved into their first, and last, house they built on Trudeau Avenue in late 1970. The following two years saw the addition of their two children to their family. When it became obvious that a little more house was needed, they chose to add on to their existing house rather than move.
When the children were slightly older, the family joined the Tara Club where all enjoyed swimming and tennis. This is where Suzanne started her “career” of service to the subdivision. She volunteered for the board and in the late eighties became the club president. At the same time, she took over the club rental program and started the club snack bar. She continued these endeavors for the next five years. After retirement from the Tara Club duties, she took a short break.
After that break, Suzanne decided it was time to get back to work and became active on the Tara Civic Association board. When a new leader was needed, Suzanne accepted the role of TCA president, with great backup help from Jim Bob Ourso. During her time as president, several events were possible in part from her efforts and guidance. Activities included assisting the Crime Prevention District to come into existence, developing a spreadsheet to track and greet new residents, several subdivision phone books were created, the first three “wine walks” were held and more attention was directed at keeping the boulevard plantings in top shape.
There has been very little that has occurred in Tara for over a half century that Suzanne has not had her hand in its success including having Tara become part of the Marathon route, working untiredly on not one, but two deed restrictions approvals for the neighborhood. She has been instrumental in getting items ready for the yearly General Meeting, including the Mini-Directory that shows which residents have paid for voting purposes.
The entire Tara Subdivision wishes Suzanne and her husband Tom a heartfelt THANK YOU for her decades of service and blessings for a well-deserved retirement.
