Robert Say Retires from Tara Civic Board

Updated: Nov 22

This year, Robert Say, a very long time resident of our community who took part in helping Tara grow, retired from the Tara Civic Association. It is with much admiration and thankfulness that we would like to share just what Robert has meant to our subdivision.

Robert and Nora Say moved into Tara in 1967. Their first home was located on Wakefield Ave. As their family grew, they decided to purchase their second home on Trinity Ave. The year was 1972. They resided there until they designed and moved into their current home, located on Tara Blvd in 1980. Tara subdivision is very fortunate that this became their permanent place of residence. Our convenient location, the amenities which the subdivision offered, and the friendships they had developed reinforced their love of Tara.

Because of Robert’s leadership abilities and a desire to contribute to his community, his presence on the Tara Civic Board and the Tara Swim Club Board was always appreciated. He went on to become the president of each board at different times over the years and also held other Board positions. Robert became an active member in the Federation of Greater Baton Rouge Civic Associations starting in 1982. He was recognized with the “first ever” Life Time Achievement Award in 2020 when he received a plaque noting his contributions and service.

So many residents, those who have lived in Tara for quite some time, will attest to his dedication to serve others; especially those who have had the privilege to serve on any of the boards with him. His low key, easy going, gentlemanly nature made him an excellent Board Member! He is a wealth of knowledge about our community, and everyone who has served with him is amazed at his impeccable accuracy of keeping records! His service and dedication has been so vital in helping our subdivision become what it is today. Robert’s presence and service on the TCA Board will be missed by those who were privileged to serve with him. However, we know who to contact if we need some guidance or want to know facts about the past. Robert we THANK YOU for all your past leadership, and for all your hard work and contributions you so willingly gave to make Tara Subdivision Great!!
